After Jeff gave the opening prayer and led the recitation of ALERT Cadet Motto and Covenant, Wenhu led the devotion, sharing some thoughts regarding John 1:5 "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

As for the activity, we were blessed to have ALERT Cadet Lieutenant Rick Warner as our guest speaker this time. He shared a lot of his experiences with us and encouraged us to continue training our sons and to build relationships with each other. He also answered a lot of questions raised by fathers. Rick's speech can be found via the link. (Thanks a lot to Wenhu) Also many thanks to Kevin to bring delicious snacks!

After Jeff gave the opening prayer and led the recitation of ALERT Cadet Motto and Covenant, Pastor Joe led the devotion, sharing some thoughts regarding Prophet Jonah. According to his estimate, there were about 2 million people in Nineveh, assuming those 120,000 persons "who did not know their right hand from their left" were little children. It was indeed a great miracle so many people repented, even though Jonah only delivered one single message "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown", not even mentioning God's name. If God could use Jonah to save Nineveh, a great but sinful city, how much more can He use us to do even greater things?

Then Jeff taught fathers and sons to sing ALERT Cadet theme song - The Battle is the Lord's. All fathers and sons got to learn this wonderful song.

Afterwards, Kevin led the fun game and Wenhu prepared for the refreshments. It was again a wonderful afternoon and a great gathering. Thanks a lot, everyone!

20150426 Unit Meeting

With Jonathan and Philip Pang's help, many fathers and sons did the uniform care with the chambray shirt and all were wearing the uniforms today. The meeting started with the flag ceremony and the ALERT Cadet motto and covenant, led by Jonathan and Philip Pang.

Jeff gave the opening prayer and led the devotion, sharing some thoughts regarding the ALERT motto "Strong to Overcome" that we are commanded by God to be strong in obeying His words so that we are empowered by Him to overcome the evil one and any obstacles.

Then Jonathan and Philip Pang demonstrated how to do the uniform care for the BDU pants, the belt and the cover. (Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, Video 4) They also taught the ALERT Cadet dress code. Just a FYI, if anyone wants to get the Khaki slacks and the belt, they can go to ALERT Cadet store or just any other store. The recommended Khaki slacks is Dickies 874.

Jonathan adjusted the belt length for Justice.

Afterwards, Kevin led the fun game which all people form a circle and one person in the center calls the name of anyone, and the two persons beside the one being called need to respond immediately. It was a really fun game. Also, Jeff provided the refreshments. And last but not least, thanks a million to Pastor Joe for taking these nice pictures!

20150412 Unit Meeting

This was our first unit meeting. It started with the flag ceremony and ALERT Cadet motto and covenant, led by Jonathan and Philip (Pang). (Video)

After Jeff gave the opening prayer, he also led the award ceremony. Jonathan was awarded with the Commendation Award, which was given for action above and beyond the call of duty by directly participating in the saving of life. Jonathan saved a lady from drowning last year and thus was granted this highest honor. Also, Philip (Liu) was awarded Phase Scripture Memory ribbon for the completion of Novice Workbook Phase 1 booklet bible verses.

Andrew then led the devotion, sharing that we should not judge others by appearance.

Then Jonathan and Philip (Pang) taught and demonstrated the uniform care - chambray. Uniform care is a very important skill to all ALERT Cadet fathers and sons, and this demonstration is very valuable and helpful to all of us. (Video 1) (Video 2)

Afterwards, Joe led the fun games while Jay provided refreshments and everyone had a wonderful time!

Introduction

ALERT Cadet California 1st Alpha unit was formed in early 2015. Currently there are already 7 families in this unit. We have regular unit meetings every second and fourth Sunday per month at Ark Baptist Church, usually starting from 2:30 pm and lasting about 1 hour.
